quick post...

I wanted to post a picture of this a long time ago as it was Darin's Christmas present to the boys... but for some reason I never got it up. Darin made this tool bench for the boys and they absolutely LOVE it!

Actually... its "Mommy-girl"

Here are just a few funny things my little babe has been saying...
My boys love to pull all of the cushions off of the couches in the formal living room. And... so does the dog. Needless to say they are ALWAYS (it seems like to me) on the floor in there. Well, the other day I walked in there and once again they were on the floor. Well, I think we had some friends coming over or something and that is the first room you walk into in my house so I hate for it to look like a mess. So... the point is, Conner was standing there (poor guy- wrong place at the wrong time) and I asked him to clean it up. He was going to, without a fight so I figured that he was the one who probably pulled them all off... Until Parker came running up and said "Actually, me did it." I couldn't help but laugh. He used the word actually correctly (just two years old) but then he said me instead of I. What a funny kid!
Also... our dogs names are Pixie and Harley. I guess I started calling them "Pixie-girl" and "Harley-girl." So, Parker has started calling them that as well... And now, he has made his own variation. I am now referred to as "Mommy-girl."
Just wanted to post these funny little things, before I forget them, although I don't know if I will forget "Mommy-girl" as I rarely hear the word Mommy without girl following when Parker is talking to me!

Also...

Please pray for Darin's cousins Devon and Rob (and their daughter Riley) as they will celebrate their twin boys one year birthday... but also grieve the anniversaries of their deaths.
I can't imagine what life is like for them... But thankfully we have a God that does know, and can comfort them in all the ways they need. Also... here are links for Devon's blog and Dana's blog (Darin's cousin who I mentioned couple posts ago- whose daughter is fighting lukemia). In case you want to follow their stories, and have specifics on what exactly to pray for for each of them... They are both MUCH better at updating their blogs than I am.

If you didn't already see... I just posted another blog right before this... just forgot to add this.

Nap time

For the last two months or so I have been sleeping at every naptime, or really every time I get. Even going to sleep when the boys go to sleep at night... That is why it is pretty hard for me to keep up with my blog. But today the boys are asleep... my house is messy (another consequence of my sleep requirements lately) but I am updating the blog.
Darin has been in school the last 4 days. Here in Dallas, which is really nice, because he's been home at night. He's supposed to fly out tomorrow or Wednesday morning to go to Santa Barbara. That should be fun... for him!:)
The boys are doing well. Although I did have to take Parker to the doctor this morning. He has a "sinus infection." The doctor also said he thinks he has athsma, but is not ready to commit to that diagnosis. So we will start antibiotics today and hopefully he will feel better soon... although I have to say that he doesn't seem to be feeling bad lately. He just has this cough that keeps him up if we don't medicate him. Which is why I took him to the doctor. I hate giving him medicine every night just for him to get to sleep. But, the doctor said that the cough syrup I am giving him is just fine to use over a period of time... So we will continue to use it. And hopefully it won't be athsma.
After the doctors office I surprised the boys with a visit to a park that we see EVERY time we go to the doctors, but have never gone to. The park right next to the Grapevine botanical gardens (which I always thought looked pretty lame from the road-but actually turned out to be really pretty with a lot of great photo ops-to bad I am not good enough to figure out how to transfer the pictures from my phone to the computer)... The park was so much fun I think we were there for over an hour! Then Darin met us there after school, and played for a bit. We had a great time! And afterward Daddy took them home, and I got to go grocery shopping... by myself!
Speaking of the grocery shopping...just a quick question... Does anyone know if there is a curry spice that is yellow? Can you buy it in the spice isle? I couldn't find it in our WalMart, but I also know that the Super Walmart- no matter how super often fails to provide all the items a normal grocery store offers.
I don't know if I've posted anything about Conner and Parkers crazy and life changing sleep habits (I mean life changing for Darin and I). But both of these boys have issues with sleeping. Conner's I can totally trace back to my mistakes with him as an infant...ie, letting him sleep in the bed with us until he was one... never putting him in his crib for a nap, instead letting him sleep on me (Darin was totally guilty of this too) for the duration of his nap. But we made a lot better choices with Parker... and after he turned one... sometime after... but definitly before he turned two we changed our poor habits with Conner. Anyway, the point is, these kids do not sleep well. The hardly ever were sleeping through the night... Ending up in our bed halfway through the night. So finally I asked for some advice (and I had been given this advice before and ignored it... now I know why-sorry Wanda)... the conclusion "put sleeping bags down in your room... if they get up they have to sleep in the sleeping bags... not in your bed." Sounds great until every single night you are fighting one or both of your children at 2 o'clock in the morning, over which sleeping bag they are sleeping in (they always both wanted the same one-right next to Mommy's side of the bed). Or fighting them to sleep in a sleeping bag at all... then waking up with them cold, or crying because they rolled under the bed and then bumped their head. Anyway, this became an every night event also. They would go to sleep in their bed and EVERY single morning we would all wake up in our room. Still.
So, I put up the sleeping bags and told them to stay in their beds or their doors would be shut and if needed they would get spankings. This was about two weeks (maybe a little more) ago... and they are still sleeping (for the most part) in their beds... without getting up. This is not a new method that I am saying will work for anyone, and I have never tried it before. In fact... I am a little leary about how long it will last, because I have done this, and countless other things many times in the past and nothing has worked... So whatever is different this time... Yay! Getting a good nights sleep is also life changing!
WOW, that was a long post about something that may seem trivial... but trust me it isn't!

Please pray...

Today we got some really sad news... Darin's cousin Camryn who we love and adore (4 years old-5 in April) had lukemia, and seemed to have fully recovered from it. Well, today we found out that her lukemia is back. She will have to undergo a bone marrow transplant (after she finishes 5 weeks of arsenic treatment). She has already had a stemcell transplant at just 2 1/2 years of age. This poor little girl has been through so much already and my heart breaks for the conversation her parents have to have with her tonight about it pretty much starting all over. She's older now, but she has not forgotten all that she's already been through. And being that she is older now she will understand much more. I don't know if that is good or bad. I just hurt so bad for their family, because I can't imagine what its like to go through what they have already had to go through, and what they are starting to go through again. They are strong believers, and her mother has even encouraged me throughout their journey. I know that God will give them the strength to get through these tough times, and whatever the outcome He will be glorified through Camryn and her brother and parents. I just also know that sometimes God's glory can be painful. We just don't understand it always. To watch a little girl go through this is just too painful, even if she comes out healthy on the other side.
Ok, well I know I am rambling, and I also know that most of the people that read this blog are family members, but in case you read it and didn't already know all this... please pray for Camryn Lee. She is a very special little girl, and her and her family just really need your prayers.

Happy Valentines Day!

Sweet Parker is still fast asleep (its 8:40-but I had to give him cough syrup at 4:30- so who knows how long he will sleep for). Hopefully he wakes up soon, because I want to take the boys out for donuts this morning for a special Valentines breakfast.
Darin's in Florida... Again. Last time he was there I got to go too. In January, that is where we celebrated our 5th anniversary. We are definitely missing him. Hope he isn't lonely on this Valentines day.
Other than our donut breakfast we don't have any big plans for today.
I do have a funny story though. Actually a few funny things have been said around here lately. Mostly by Conner, although Parker has become quite the chatterbox lately.:)
Anyway, the other day we were talking about Conner's valentines, and his class valentines party and he said that if any girls in his class gave him a princess valentine he was going to have to throw it in the trash, because princesses are for chicks. Well, he did get some princesses and he didn't thrown them in the trash... in fact he had NO problem eating the princess fruit snacks that he was given.LOL
Also... I almost forgot to post it... BUT Conner can ride his bike now! I know that seems very late... At least I think it does, but once he started riding he just took off. Now he wants to be outside riding all day long! Yay! Its so much fun!
Hope your Valentines day is great and full of love with your loved ones!

What a disappointment.

Sorry to anyone who has checked this blog for the last two months or so. I have been such a lame blogger. My computer has not been charging well, so I am afraid to do anything I don't have to do before it dies.
Well, today it seems not to be rejecting the charger, so we will see what happens.
The last two months have been a sort of a blur for us. Darin has been traveling quite a bit and I have been pretty sick with morning sickness and most recently "intolerably low" (said the e.r. doc) blood pressure. Thankfully my nausea has gone away for the most part... So now I am just trying to figure out what to do about this blood pressure thing, while eating salt on EVERYTHING. LOL I'm not a huge salt person to begin with, so this has been fun...
Anyway Darin just got into town late last night... So this morning he had planned to take any boys who were "good for Mommy" last night while going to bed out for donuts this morning. That was a bit sad, because Parker had a really tough time at bedtime and we fought about it for at least an hour. So, Conner and Daddy got to have a date, and Parker has a chance to redeem himself today and then tomorrow he will get to have a date with daddy if all goes well. Lets hope! I know Darin really wants to take him.
So, while they were out getting donuts Parker went with me to go wait at a Lutheran Church here in town for them to hopefully call my name off of the waiting list. In hopes that Conner would get to go to school there. Well, I did get my name called, so Conner will be switching schools next year.:( We really like the school he is at now, Lamb of God, but we signed him up last year before we realized we were moving, and now it is just quite a drive. So... next year he will be at Faith Lutheran, and I am actually a little excited about it. It doesn't start until 9:30 in the morning (as opposed to 8:30) so getting out of the house won't be quite so hard. Especially seeing that we will have another little one in the mix by then.
Parker won't be starting school yet. I think in Fall of 2010 we can go there. But I am just not quite ready. Besides that I think it will be kind of nice to only have the monthly tuition for one at a time in preschool. By the time Conner goes to Kindergarten Parker will be ready for Preschool.
So... that is basically all that we have going on right now. Preschool shopping and dizziness. Thankfully Daddy is home for a few days!
Sorry its been so long since I've posted.
